STUDENT FIREFIGHTER INTERSHIP PROGRAM
Overview
Students are assigned to work side by side with career personnel while attending classes at Central Oregon Community College. The Resident Student program is a two year program with the student completing the requirements to earn an associates degree in structural fire science.
Benefits
A Student Firefighter Intern earns a scholarship through a testing process. A scholarship may include: Practical training through working side by side with our personnel, reimbursement for tuition & books, fire district uniform, and lodging depending on the agreement with the student. Requirements
Age: Minimum of age 18 at time of appointment.
Physical Condition: Must possess and maintain the ability, endurance and strength necessary to perform the duties of a Firefighter.
Character: Must be of good moral character. A background check will be conducted on all candidates prior to appointment. The fire district requires adherance to the fire district ethics statement and policy.
Drivers License: Must possess a valid Drivers License and be insurable by the Fire District insurance carrier.
Recruitment and Selection
The primary target group for the Student Firefighter Internship Program are recent High School graduates. Although any age group may apply for the program. Interested candidates need to apply @ 765 SE 5th Street, Madras, Oregon.
